Delight in an M and M this morning by being Mindful of the Freedom that you have on this Monday!
This morning I found myself praising God for my Then and Now. Reading Colossians I was encouraged to think about the things of Heaven and not the things on earth; yet, as I go through this pandemic and see everything that is happening in the world. I find it hard to not also think about the things on earth. Colossians 3:3 says that my real life is hidden in Christ and that he chose me so that I will, not can or might, but “I WILL SHARE” in all of Christs’ glory. Then I was reminded of Hagar who was Sarai’s Egyptian slave in Genesis that ran away after being treated harshly and found herself crying in distress near a spring when the Lord sent an Angel to her. Hagar’s famous words “You are the God who sees me” spoke loudly this morning because the word says, “Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” When times are difficult for so many financially, emotionally, mentally I urge you this Monday to be Mindful that Jesus came so that you can fully experience the freedom God offers. Colossians 3:12 says, “let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts” because “you are called to live in peace” and that “God chose you”. It pushes you to make allowance for each other’s faults which during this pandemic I feel has been highlighted with time becoming so precious. Too precious for me to hold on to unforgiveness, too precious for me to ponder on negativity, and too precious to focus on what my eyes can see. I have found freedom in making allowance for my own faults as I try to clothe myself “with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Trust this is not a license to do what you want, but the freedom is understanding that Jesus knows firsthand your struggles and what you endure. He knows that your human so you are not perfect, but God sees you and wants goodness for you, so in that I have freedom! My Pastor said it best when he shared that Gods goodness as well as his mercy is following me.
